When you purchased your first home, your design suggestions likely came from the pages of an interiors magazine that featured the trends of that time. And chances are that your idea of “outdoor living space” included a patio or deck and a patch of lawn, plus a few shrubs and flowers for visual interest.
Fast-forward to today, and your new home at Windsong, where you have an appointment with Design Center Professional Amy Ackerstein, whose priority is to help you navigate the selection process so your home includes all of your “must-haves,” plus the most up-to-date and timeless conveniences.
“It’s fun to work with experienced homebuyers,” Amy says. Having been through the process of owning a home, “they’ve gone through the growing pains of what works and what doesn’t work, and they are clearer now about what they will need in terms of functionality.”
With an extensive background in home sales and design, Amy brings a level of understanding and competency that is unrivaled in the industry. Her philosophy is to listen to what the home buyer wants and needs, and to help streamline the selection process so that it is an enjoyable experience.
“I encourage our homebuyers to take advantage of our Pinterest site, to do their homework, to drive through the community and get an idea about color schemes and such,” Amy says. “Doing so makes the selection process less overwhelming, because they have narrowed down what they want in their dream home.”
The typical selections process includes three meetings, with much of the focus on the kitchen, Amy says. “People in the Active Adult stage have a specific vision for their kitchen – they cook a lot or entertain a lot. As they’ve remodeled current homes, they recognize what they need, and they choose what works for them.”
The Windsong Design Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am – 5 pm. Homebuyers can reach Amy Ackerstein by calling 770-516-3409 ext. 110, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
